Flap Grinding Disc, Zirconia & Ceramic, Type 29
CGW Flap discs blend and finish in one operation which replaces the traditional two-step grinding process of grinding wheels and sanding discs. Flap discs provide a more consistent finish.
Certain flap discs are trimmable, allowing the user to remove the outer edge of the backing to expose more of the disc. This means longer life and fewer disc changes on long jobs.

CGW Flap discs blend and finish in one operation which replaces the traditional two-step grinding process of grinding wheels and sanding discs. Flap discs provide a more consistent finish.
CGW flap discs reduce processing time which increases productivity for lower parts finishing costs and provides an overall cost savings. CGW flap discs are engineered for full use of the coated abrasive material. Layering the abrasive cloth flaps allows the discs to wear evenly which constantly exposes new sharp grain. CGW flap disc program contains fully consumable fiberglass and rigid aluminum backings.
Abrasive Materials and Applications
Flap discs are available in Regular Thickness (Standard Density), and XL Thickness (High Density) for both Zirconia and Ceramic grains. XL High Density requires High-Output angle grinders for best results.
Zirconia provides the fastest removal for carbon based steels, and second best after CGW Z-Stainless for stainless steels. Used for aggressive use and heavy duty applications.
Ceramic flap discs have self-sharpening ceramic grains, which are also contaminant-free so that stainless-steel doesn't rust after being finished. Ceramic discs also are designed to last longer than zirconia discs.

Glass Sanding Disc, 5″
Black silicon carbide is harder than aluminum oxide, and is generally used for the abrasives and ceramic industries. The only two common abrasive materials harder than SiC are diamonds and boron carbide. Silicon Carbide is special in the way it breaks down. As it breaks down into smaller particles, the media will expose new, sharp edges. Therefore, as the media breaks down, it will create a “working blend” of various sized particles. This allows for effective surface cleaning/polishing.
These sanding discs use these attributes of silicon carbide to polish glass, as well as ceramics, and stone. -
